Rik is a folk musician, song writer and story teller and plays a number of string instruments. You may find Rik over at the local pub The Mildmay Colours on a Friday night having a jam with the locals. He has been known to sing a few songs at breakfast but only if asked. Rik is our chef at The Ivy Barn and cooks a very good Full English breakfast, described by guests as a 'big boys breakfast ', 'the best breakfast on The South West Coast Path' and 'the best breakfast ever.'
We are dog friendly and are happy for guests to bring their dogs although Merlin and the cats are not allowed access to the guests rooms.
The Ivy Barn is set in a picture postcard village where you know you can have a peaceful and relaxing break.
What more can you want? A relaxing and quiet place to stay, in a beautiful village with plenty of places to visit.

We provide a dog bed, biscuit treats and bowls for your dog although you are quite welcome to bring your own. We also always have a supply of poop bags should your dog run out.
We do have a few rules which we ask you to respect. We do ask that your dog is never allowed on the bed or on any furniture at any time and is also not left unattended for long periods of time. We do not allow dogs in the breakfast room and are quite happy for you to leave your dog in the room if the dog and yourself are comfortable with that and will not cause any damage.
Please also clean up after your dog in the garden and around The Ivy Barn. We also ask that you do respect the other guests’ peace and make sure your dogs are not a nuisance to guests or neighbours.
We are happy to allow a maximum of 2 dogs in each room depending on the size. Please phone us to ask and tell us about your dogs! There is a nominal charge of £7 per dog per night.
Health and Safety with your dog:
Please remember to observe the country code and keep your dog on a lead when near livestock. If you are walking the South West Coast Path you can come across cattle and sheep on the path.
Care should always be taken on the coast path as there are some quite steep cliffs.
We always put the low tide times on a blackboard in the breakfast room and advise that you are careful of the currents in the sea especially when the tide is turning.
The nearest vet is South Moor Vets in Modbury on 01548 830210.
